"Why then the world's mine oyster, which I with sword will open."

About Me

I have always been a bit of an introvert who enjoys her solitude and privacy. My conservative nature and expressionless facade in front of strangers often make me seem a bit cold, but in truth, I love to laugh and hold those I cherish close. I am constantly reliving moments of my childhood – I have watched (and re-watched) most Disney movies, prefer cartoons and wildlife documentaries over sitcoms, and half my bed is covered with a lifetime of accumulated stuffed animals.

I consider myself quite the nerd. I enjoy watching anime, reading manga, and playing video games. I also never seem to have enough time – the classic symptom of a procrastinator.

I also know when the narwhal bacons.

I am a strong believer of reciprocity and an admirer of generous hearts and a strong sense of righteousness.

My family is of utmost importance to me and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. My sister and I are often at odds, but I chalk it up to the age difference between us and our different interests. I am waiting for the day when she is mature enough to be my greatest confidante.

"Fate made us sisters, hearts made us friends."

I can’t sit still when there’s a football waiting to be tossed around, or a basketball to be dribbled. Badminton is my favourite sport, and I think my dad is the best doubles partner. I am back on the court after a 2-year break from my 3rd dislocation.

Bring it.

I am a Hong Kong-born Canadian, and proud of it.

My boyfriend treats me like a princess – for 5.5 years and counting. I will refer to him by the alias “Dark”, which stems from the fact that until he met me and I re-vamped his wardrobe, it had consisted mostly of black t-shirts with a pair of jeans slapped on.

To be honest though, referring to him by an alias does seem kind of silly… Probably even more so to our friends.

I miss my long hair.

My shy and reclusive nature along with my habitual privacy has always made it hard for me to keep personal blogs and broadcast videos, so it is with a leap of courage that I venture into the world of blogging.

Oh, and I love to draw, but I hardly ever have time for it. I did want something a touch more personal in the header though. So I will have to come up with something when I get the chance.

  13. What a wonderfully complete summary of yourself!! I’m glad you are overcoming your shyness to blog. I admire the focus of yours, and professionalism. Over a year and I’m still an amateur! Keep buying, trying, and blogging. šŸ˜‰

    • Thank you so much! I’m actually not all that focused sometimes – I like talking about beauty products, but also about a jumble of other things like food, drawing, video games, and my cat to name a few šŸ™‚ I don’t feel professional… In fact, sometimes I feel like my blogging is too dense and detailed for most people. I just write the way that I like to read – does that make sense? Haha thanks for dropping by!

  16. You write very well, you’re lovely and you share what’s in your heart so sincerely. I enjoyed reading about your hobbies, childhood, personality.. it is good to re-visit your childhood regularly, adult life is such a stresser!
Anime can be suitable for people of any age, it’s really down to what’s your taste and what themes you like to see.

I’m Hong Kong born too, but I live in England, How old were you when you go to Canada? I visited Canada once before coz I have relatives in Toronto Ontario and Quebec, I really liked it there, always nice to experience another part of the big wide world.

I’ll follow you because I think you really cool ^_^ and I’ll definitely recommend your blog to my girl friends aswell.

    • I was only a toddler back then. I’m surprised you went to England (well no, not really, seeing as how HK was a British colony way back when) but how long has it been since you’ve been there? I can’t imagine what it’d be like in England, though. Do you have a British accent? Haha I suppose for you it wouldn’t be an accent if you do, if anything, I’d have an “American” accent I guess. Everything I know about England is from fiction reading – mostly those by Charles Dickens. So I think I’m in the wrong era šŸ˜›

      • I was 7 years old back then. I’ve been here nearly 20 years, hehe.. I thought I had quite a “british” accent, but i was surprised when one time I was talking to this girl a bbc (british born chinese), I mentioned i was born in HK and she said she could tell, from the way that I talked, it didn’t sound like a mancunian accent. mancunian is the name for locals from the city of Manchester, North West England. If you want to know what that accent is like watch videos by a band called Oasis. You can still find traces of old london city now; like old victorian buildings and houses, cathedrals, tower of london and westminster abbey are in a way medieval. So besides the way people used to dress, you’re not far off. I love the harry potter books, would be cool if england now could be more like that magical world.

      • Harry Potter is amazing. I think I`d imagine modern-day England as they depict in the movies. Although I much prefer the books to the movies – I`m not as fond of their portrayals of the characters and the story. Imagination takes you much farther!

  17. Indeed! the books are much better. Being able to dream and having a fruitful imagination is always good. Recommend you a good manga/anime to see its called black butler, or kuroshitsuji in japanese. Your username sounds well pretty! anything with the word pearl in it gives a good feeling and impression i guess.

    • I’ll check it out over the summer when I have time šŸ™‚ What is it about? Sometimes I also prefer the manga over the anime because the anime depiction also doesn’t follow what I think the characters should act like/sound like šŸ˜›

      • Black Butler is set in Victorian era England, and its about a demon; in a human form he is a butler called Sabastian, bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, of a noble family and owner of a toy and candy empire. In return that Sabastian looks after Ciel, looks after his mansion, sometimes being his business advisor and help solve those problems, sabastian will get to eat Ciel’s soul when once his ultimate goal of avenging his parents deaths is complete! A very interesting premise right? Story arcs include the pair solving murder mysteries, with help from a shinigami acquaintance, sabastian fights off other demons. The anime started off with this premise but then it went away from the manga and then it ended. I watched the anime first and really enjoyed its characters and story, that’s why I would follow the original manga.

      • That does sound pretty interesting – not sure I like that the main character’s soul will be eaten though. I tend to get attached to characters haha. Will definitely check it out this summer, thanks for the recommendation! šŸ™‚

      • Hehe~ thats cute, well you know the manga is still on-going so who knows if his fate will be this way in the end..

  18. You write really well and I really enjoy reading about your adventures and the gems on makeup. šŸ™‚ My sister and I are the best of friends and my family is the most important thing to me too. I live away from them. Keep up the good work!!
