September 2012 Glossybox: A must-share!

Let me start off with a few updates about my current beauty box subscriptions.

1. I had discontinued my Glymm subscription since June 2012.

For new members, the price has been increased from $10/mo to $12/mo before taxse. As an existing member, I retained my rate of $10/mo, but I didn’t think it was worth $12/mo for 4 items. They replaced the cardboard Glymm Boxes with makeup pouches in the name of reducing waste. In all honesty, I think it’s better to recycle a cardboard box than to accumulate a mountain of makeup pouches. They’re nice, but they’re probably contributing to the raised price, too. Most importantly, the items were consistently mediocre. The “deluxe-sized” samples were small, and I got way too many packets (I hate packets – you get them for free at the mall) and perfume samples. I would always find at least one item intriguing, two at best. It wasn’t worth paying for miniscule samples and one good item.

2. I am still consistently pleased with my Glossybox.

Which is why I will be sharing the latest one with you – I’m way too excited about it not to. HOWEVER, it seems that they no longer use referral links, which means I actually have to send out an email to friends who are interested. I have emailed them to ask them for a new referral link, but in the meantime, I’d appreciate if you’d use me as a referral by leaving me a comment or a message :)

3. I am getting my first Topbox this month!

I have high hopes. We will see.

And now, without further ado… here’s the September 2012 Glossybox!

April 2012 Glossybox: Late!

I know it’s May, but my April Glossybox didn’t arrive until May 1st, and I had to go pick it up because it was sent to the wrong address >=[ I’m not so thrilled about that. There has been a huge headache over the whole change-of-address issue, where Canada Post refused to change the shipping address, even before it was shipped out. They insisted on waiting for the package to be returned to the sender. Why waste manpower and resources like that? Anyway, let’s check out the box!

Like the March Glossybox, this one was pretty weighty with lots of large-sized samples.

March 2012 Glossybox: Worth the wait?

I have so much to share: my Sephora VIB haul yesterday,  and my first Canadian Glossybox and my first Sasa.com haul just arrived today. Better take this one step at a time!

First things first: check out my research on Canadian beauty boxes if you’d like details and comparisons of the 4 current Boxes available!

Here’s the March 2012 Glossybox – they had a bit of a hiccup processing this month’s Box, which normally should have turned me off, but I had a little more faith in them. But it’s finally here!

I must admit I was full of anticipation for this box, especially since their reason for the delay had been trying to get some of the samples through customs.  So I was expecting some good goodies :)

March Glossybox update and upcoming Beauty Swap!

MARCH 30 UPDATE: Just got my Glossybox and I’m very happy with it! Check it out here!

So it’s the 3rd week of March, and I’m sure all Glossybox subscribers (myself included) are wondering why we haven’t received a shipping notification email yet.

Glossybox just recently launched in Canada, with the very first Box released just last month for February. Knowing that Glossybox has a pretty extensive international reputation, as well as pretty decent samples in their Boxes, I was excited for the Canadian launch. (For the first time, we have something before the US does! *gasp* Coming to the States  soon, though!) The 6 samples in the February Glossybox seemed great, too, so I subscribed. Check out my Canadian Beauty Box research post to learn more.

I wasn’t worried enough to contact Glossybox, but there seem to have been many subscribers that did. I opened my inbox to find an email from Glossybox:

March 2012 Glymm Box: My first beauty box

Despite only being shipped out yesterday, my first-ever Glymm Box was delivered today – one day ahead of schedule :)

Glymm is one of the 4 Canadian beauty boxes currently available on the market, sending 4-5 beauty products to your door every month for $10 CAD before tax. This bright pink box kept drawing my eye away from my notes, which I was supposed to be studying from. I couldn’t help myself – I opened it just before my last quick textbook review before leaving for my exam.

More ALDO boots and coupon codes

Remember when I was lamenting over these boots and how I’d refused to pay $170 CAD for them?

Stingle in black leather

Well, these black leather boots are sold out for sure, but yesterday afternoon I lucked out while I was aimlessly browsing ALDO online. They had the dark brown ones on sale for $119.98 CAD! I ordered them before I could re-think it. Which was a good thing, because I just checked now and they’re out of the dark brown. They still have the black suede ones for $59.99 and a light brown for $74.99 – neither in my size though.

My newest obsession augments my current one: All about the “Canadian Birchboxes”

So we have established that I have ridiculous impulses to buy and try lots of products. I have now found monthly boxes of goodies that serve only to augment my shopping obsession.

Recently, I learned of the existence of Birchbox, a company that sends you 4-5 deluxe beauty samples every month for $10 USD, free shipping included. This was exciting, as I love deluxe samples (they’re in such cute little packaging!) because it lets you try enough of a product without committing to a full-sized (and full-priced) product. But like most good things in North America, they only ship within the US. So off I went, seeing if there are any Canadian versions of Birchbox.

After digging around, I found 4 “Canadian Birchboxes”:

…and then I proceeded to dissect each one. Be forewarned: this is going to be lengthy.
