Today is just not my day. I woke up too early and lacking sleep on a Saturday morning from a bad dream; realized that despite having gone to Loblaws a mere 3 days ago, I’d forgotten to buy eggs; and upon going to the grocery store yet again, had a bus cancelled on me, making me wait an hour outside in the cold.
So. I am going to revel in the Sephora VIB haul I made on Thursday. Except now that I’m going through my pictures, my haul seems abysmally small considering the amount of money I’d spent…
Sephora had a VIB event (which I’d mentioned here) where VIB’s and a friend got 15% off as well as a Sephora umbrella and a bag of samples. If you missed it, don’t worry too much, as VIB’s will still have 15% off until April 6th.
Here’s what I’d intended to purchase on my way to Sephora:
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream in 18 Purple and 2 Steel
So many little things I want to talk about – here’s a mishmash of some of my favourite blogging topics all in one post.
1. Art on MS Paint
I’ve been working on my poster presentation, and I prefer having diagrams and images on all of my powerpoint presentations rather than blocks of text. I’ve always hated siting in lecture where the prof reads off slides filled with rows and rows of text. Why bother lecturing? I could just read it on my own – don’t waste my time and put me to sleep.
Here’s one of the diagrams I drew on Microsoft Paint – pixel by pixel. No tablet, no PhotoShop. Time consuming, but oh-so-satisfying, because it is completely personalized for me, by me.
Wow, the resolution is terrible as a jpeg. It looks so much nicer as an original Paint bmp, but WordPress won’t let me upload bmp files
Firstly, blogging is lagging behind as I struggle to keep up with the influx of thesis demands and lack of sleep I am thoroughly sick of working, though, and I can’t stop obsessing over (my lack of) blogging. Without further ado, let’s get down to business so I can finish this and concentrate on my work
Thanks to a recommendation by Lil Miss Shanghai, I made my first order from COSME-DE.COM on the 19th. The order was dispatched the very next day on the 20th. Although the estimated delivery date was stated as March 29th – April 9th, I got my package yesterday on the 26th. Considering that COSME-DE is based in Hong Kong and my package was an international delivery, I am duly impressed by the delivery speed!
Here’s my mini haul:
Skin 79 Lovely Girl BB Cream and Imju Dejavu Fiberwig Paint-On False Lashes Extra Long Mascara
I wonder if you’re wondering why I made such a small international purchase. Most of my international hauls are quite a bit more substantial than a measly total of 2 items. (That reminds me, I haven’t posted any of my YesStyle hauls >__< despite my review)
I know that I just did a food post yesterday – but this was such a fun dinner that I couldn’t resist Also, I made a very satisfying haul today, but I can’t show you everything because a lot of the items I got are for my upcoming beauty swap and I want it to be a surprise for blissno9! So here’s some of the yummies we made today, instead.
Dark’s friend invited us to his place for a sashimi party – we were going to make our own sushi from scratch. There had been a market deal to get 50% off fresh fish fillets. They got 8 lbs of sashimi-grade salmon for $25 CAD! That’s less than I pay for one dinner meal of all-you-can-eat sushi!
This was from Kristen’s recipes on Baker Bettie, where she was making cookies to replace muffins because she actually doesn’t like muffins! I have no objections here, because it came out to delicious cookies. Since I can’t boast about my food photography skills, here’s the picture from Baker Bettie that made me want to try making them for myself:
Incidentally, her recipe for soft and fluffy blueberry lemon cookies was Freshly Pressed. Here is her recipe directly:
Last week, I picked up Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Gumdrop in a mini-haul. It seemed like there was a lot of raving about this product. The idea of a moisturizing lipstick really appealed to me, especially since I have dry lips and skin regardless of the season. There were many beautiful shades that I wanted to try, but I figured I should just start with one, just in case I didn’t like it. Since I don’t wear lipstick regularly, I wanted a light shade that wouldn’t be overly dramatic but would still give me some colour.
I know 40 followers aren't much, but for me it's a milestone! I started this blog about a month ago, and I've LOVED blogging about beauty, meeting everyone, and having a lot of fun seeing everyone else's creations!! I've decided to do a small giveaway to celebrate this, feel free to participate below!!! Open until April 1st 2012.
