What an Angel

Yesterday, I gave my friend a list of things I wanted from Sephora, as she had a 20% off coupon code for the US. Her boyfriend is currently working in California, and has been tolerantly ordering makeup for his girlfriend (and her friends yay). With the current exchange rate and the lower priced products for the US, this was definitely not a chance to pass up on! I won’t be getting the products until the new year though, as she is heading to the States to spend Christmas with her boyfriend, and will not be bringing my purchases over the border until then.

Unfortunately, I am quite low on funds right now; an unforeseen financial setback is leaving me a with quite a thin wallet. I expect to have the issue rectified by December, but as of now, I have no extra cash for things as trivial as beauty products

She is paying for (well, charging her boyfriend’s credit card!) the entire order with her purchases as well, and has generously assured me that I need not pay her until I have the funds to do so. And we all know how expensive Sephora is! Of course, the replenishing of my bank account coincides with when she’ll deliver my things into my eager waiting hands anyway, but it is still wonderful for her to put payment on hiatus for as long as necessary.

There wasn’t much else for me to blog about in this post other than that I wanted to express my appreciation of this Angel.

Sunsilk Straighten-up 24/7 Creme Review

Looking for some quick help on those bad hair days? Sunsilk’s Straighten-up 24-7 Creme has done the job for me, yet I find that most of my friends know nothing about it. Which is a shame because I really think it does the job. And I’m pretty sure I bought it in a drugstore for only about $5 CDN. Don’t quote me though, it’s been a long time.

I actually bought this bottle at least 5-6 years ago… and it’s still more than half-full. Not for lack of usefulness, just that I don’t tend to get up with bad hair days all that often. That being said, sometimes I look in the mirror and find my hair in waves contouring one side of my neck (I tend to sleep on my side). I also hate getting up early, so I seldom have the time to pull out my straightener.

The beauty of this product is that it straightens waves in your hair quite naturally. You will not achieve the flat-iron look, but if your hair is naturally straight, this will help draw your hair back down. You only need a pea-sized amount, give or take some depending on the length of your hair.

The product has a light tinge of purple with a thick, creamy consistency. I usually wet my other hand with a bit of water to water down the creme before smoothing it through my hair with my fingers. The effect is pretty immediate and it takes no time at all for gravity to help it along.

The best thing is that it smells great! It has a shampoo-like smell, without being overly unbearing, especially after you’ve watered it down. Plus, no heat-damage from the straightener

I believe that Sunsilk has changed the packaging for this product, but I’m not sure if the formula has been changed along with it. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth checking out!

Why am I here?

Two years ago, I discovered a makeup hoarding obsession with my first purchase at Sephora. Ever since, I have been stockpiling makeup and skincare products.

Being a student, I am always looking to maximize the benefits of quality products at low prices. It was difficult to find reviews for products that aren’t very well known, though. I just want to add my two cents to the multitude of reviews out there, especially for things that I think have been overlooked and under-appreciated.

By all means, I’m no self-proclaiming expert. I’m too lazy to get up in time to put makeup on before I leave the house, and oftentimes forget to stick to my skincare routine. However, I have found that even the most elusive scrap of information can be useful when it comes to researching products that I want to buy. So I hope I can help others out too.

And of course, there will be lots of other blogging – life, love, and the world – sharing my thoughts. After all, that’s what a blog is for, right?
